Promotion is one action, not a term you dread
Ecole is school ERP software in Secunderabad, Hyderabad: school management software for the week a school closes one academic year and opens the next, from a school software company based in Hyderabad. At the end of an academic year, a principal or correspondent runs promotion for a section: move the section up, mark the students who are detained, transferred out or have dropped out, review the list, and commit it. It is one screen, done once per section, not a series of edits spread across a fortnight.
Detained, transferred out or dropped, each case is marked individually rather than assumed. A section rarely moves as a single block without exceptions, and the review step exists so a principal looks at the list once before committing it, rather than trusting a bulk action to get every edge case right on the first try.
A closed year stops changing, on purpose
Once a year is closed, Ecole makes it permanently read-only. Nobody, including the school's own admin, correspondent or accountant, edits a mark, an attendance record or a fee entry inside a year that has already been closed. If a fact from that year turns out to matter later, an admission question, an audit, a parent asking something, it is still there to read; it is simply no longer open to change.
This is not a special feature for one campus. It is how Ecole treats every academic year, everywhere it runs, because a closed year that can quietly change later is not a record at all. A school that needs to correct something from a closed year still can, by making the correction in the year that is open now, with its own date and its own trail, rather than by reaching back and rewriting history.
Roles stay the same before, during and after promotion
Promotion does not need every role in the building at once. The class teacher's job by then is already done: attendance marked, remarks written. The subject teacher's marks are already in, and the fee accountant's year is settled the same way. Promotion is run by whoever in the school's office is responsible for it, typically the principal or the correspondent, using the numbers everyone else has already entered through the year. None of this needs a new login or a new screen: the same dashboard a principal already uses for daily attendance and collections is where promotion is run at year end.
